Craig Thornton
Upon completion of his secondary school qualification he commenced his career with the CSIRO as a farm apprentice. This was then followed by a degree in horticulture from the University of Melbourne
Craig first spent time at Deakin Estate in 1995 working as a Horticultural technician. He left the estate after a three year tenure to take up employment consulting as an agronomist across various plantings throughout the Sunraysia. He later returned to Deakin Estate as an Assistant Farm and Technical manager.
Craig has managed the Vineyard and Citrus operation at Deakin Estate since 2005.
Harvest 2009: "There was talk that most of the district's crush would be finished by Easter as per previous seasons. Why? Hell only knows as Easter keeps moving. Not at Deakin - we kept on trying to pick each varietal and vineyard at its optimum."- Craig Thornton
