'86 Points' Clever winemaking, including yeast selection, produces a wine with clear tropical fruits at a very competitive price. Drink by 2019.

The longer, cooler ripening season experienced in 2017 across southern Australia stretched to the Murray River districts as well, and these grapes rested on the vine so the fruit ripeness spread widely. This is spicy and minerally with clear notes of quartered apples and a pithy mouthfeel. A tiny addition of semillon is included — perhaps it adds to the wine’s herbal notes. 4 Stars.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to source quality wines with a recommended retail price of $10 a bottle or less. Here’s a wine from Mildura for everyday drinking. It is fresh, clean and lively with bright tropical fruit flavours and a soft, gentle finish. It’s uncomplicated, pleasant drinking.
